Keeping your Account Center secure

Tips for keeping yourself safe online:

  • Create a unique user name and password, different from other online accounts you have. 
  • Never share your user name or password with anyone.
  • Avoid using personal information in your user name and password (like your name, address, or Social Security number). 
  • Never write your password down; if you need help remembering, we recommend writing down a hint and keeping it in a secure location, away from your computer. 
  • To protect your account information, please update your password at least every six months.
  • Your password should be easy for you to remember, but difficult for others to guess. 
  • Never leave your Account Center session unattended, especially if you are using a public or shared computer, and always log out of your session when you’re finished.
  • Do not use the “save password” function available in internet browsers to store your Account Center password.
  • Be sure your computer always has the latest software updates installed, including the most recent anti-virus, anti-spyware, and firewall software. 
  • Bookmark the financial websites you use most often, and use these to access your account.
  • Be aware of your environment while using computers in a public area.  Do not access financial websites while in an environment where others can easily see your browsing activity.
  • Ensure the security settings in your browser are set to provide an appropriate level of protection. You can use the Help feature on your browser to learn which security features are available to you.
  • When you sign into your Account Center, check the browser to ensure the session is being encrypted. Look for an icon, usually a padlock or key, in your browser window.
